J. Arif Verner J.
Arif Verner has created another great album for a truly deep
listening experience, where he transports the listener on a
journey into the realms of wonder, magic, and enchantment.
'Through the Timeless' is the second release by J. Arif
Verner on the prestigious Spotted Peccary label. His debut
release, A Vision Beyond Light, was well received and
established Verner as a significant composer in this genre
with a unique and distinctive style. With this new album, he
explores the movement of time as it travels through our
lives. Intertwining ambient textures with melodic themes,
this compelling release expands in many new directions.
Guest artists, Laraaji, Jeff Haynes and Ron Riddle join
Verner on acoustic and electronic percussion, guitars,
zithers, psaltery harps and synthesizer textures. Each of
the nine tracks creates a hypnotic, life flowing and
sensuous universe of sound, unveiling a message of harmony
and peace from a timeless cosmos.
The music evokes feelings of
comfort and warmth and timelessness. Spacious, floating, and
ethereal, the combination of samplers, synths, and acoustic
instruments, seem to stretch out and envelop everything,
blanketing it in a layer of billowy softness. 'Through the
Timeless' represents another crucial step in the process of
artistic maturity for Verner, which began with his landmark
work, 'A Vision Beyond Light'. '
Throughout his musical
career, J. Arif Verner has always created music that touches
upon the various ranges of mood, being, and emotion. On his
latest, 'Through the Timeless', Verner rolls out a
remarkable new map, the kind used by adventurous travellers
to move across invisible borders, through unusual terrain
and down unchartered highways. The textures are smooth and
flowing - an unrelentless aura of atmospherics pervade an
optimistic yet timeless interlude. Verner's music creates
cutting-edge atmospheres, savoring peak moments and profound
musical discoveries, steeping the album in dreamlike
memories, and shaping them gently over time.
As the last composition, "As
Dreams Sleep" draws to a close, thus ends this magical
voyage, as the music slowly fades, leaving behind a
slipstream of images, and memories stirred. This is the type
of music you can play as background music, or for the
discriminate listener during those more peaceful times of
the day. If you are a true lover of ambient relaxing music,
this release belongs in your collection.
