Doctor Wise Radically different, this is rich digital melodic music, vaguely worldbeat, with lots of elements of house and trance added for good measure. His musical experience includes playing with such diverse artists as Bill Lswell, Daevid Allen's Gong, and recoding with members of the Wailers in the famed Tuff Gong Studio. This coloristic ambiguity is exploited to magnificent effect using synths, percussion and voice. The thirteen tracks offer a richly textured and varied collection culminating with the magnificent "Karna". Doctor Wise conjures up a potent juju of rastafarian spirits and dark electronic seasoning suitable for any palette. The sound is a dense mixture of ethnic rhythms, heavy synthetic melodies and exotic effects. At times the sound echoes perhaps the more exotic instrumental moments of A. D. 2, or vibrates with ethno-trance vibrations. A unique blend multi-cultural electronics. A great delight! information: Review by Ben Kettlewell |
